I was just looking at Best Buy's website, and it says the tx1215nr has a firewire port. Can anyone confirm this? Could this be the difference between the tx1000 and tx1200 series?

Nowhere at HP web site says firewire port is available for tx1000z series laptops. You will need to go to Best Buy and see it in person. If there is no Best Buy in your area, I can go there and check it out. Our store has it on display but I didn't check for firewire port. My tx1120us does not have firwire port.

    Check HP web site: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...2700&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN

Went to Best Buy and found a display model and it was labeled as tx1215nr on the notebook. I could not find firewire port. Looks like Best Buy web site made a typo.

I think there was a mistake on an HP site or manual some time back and some guys here chased HP about it and they corrected it. I think it was to do with a firewire port...

I dunno where they'd put a Firewire port, anyway!

There isn't a Firewire port anywhere on the tx series. Honestly, there really isn't any room to put a firewire card either, since the inside is pretty cramped already (see the post by might abacus for the inside), unless HP integrated it into the mobo.

That is why I picked up a dv2500t instead, it has everything I want: better graphic cards, HDMI output, Firewire, clear screen, bigger right shift key and much much longer battery life. For sure it is not a tablet, but I don't really need that function after all.

Nope, it doesn't have firewire, period.

But yes, you could add an Expresscard to add a firewire port.
