It looks like a pen, feels like a pen, and is about as heavy as a pen … but you use the eZonics ePen with your computer. The ePen looks like a great choice for students, artists/photoshoppers, and average users looking for a more ergonomic, more functional and less expensive solution than a Tablet PC or a Graphics Pad. So let's take a look at this $35 device and see just what it can do.

I always thought someone ought to make something like an optical tablet it would probably be cheaper than those fancy wacom. Maybe they shound have made it with laser instead of just a regular mouse led, it would be more accurate and probably let you hover from farther up.

So it's effectively all the functionality of a Wacom tablet (ie Graphire, not the PC) for $35? That's nifty.

Yeah it is a cool little gadget and it comes in a wireless model as well.

All that remains is to get a simple cover for a monitor and boom, <$100 Cintiq

    Budget projects ftw.

How would this pen know his absolute position on the screen?

Just line it up so it's on top of the cursor. Like I said, it's a makeshift replacement.

Actually, if the sensor sees stuff moving under it, it's going to go haywire so pointing it to the screen doesn't seem like a good idea to me.

This is great as I wanted a tablet to take notes in class, but I just recently ordered a non-tablet laptop instead. I can just get this and take class notes on my new laptop using this pen.
