On HP's Options site it says the (old) External MultiBay is not compatible with the tc4200. Only the External MultiBay II is.

    Is it true ?

I need a drive to use the recovery disc and I thought I'd go with the cheaper, old, external multibay cradle...

    regards,
    Markus

I am afraid that this is true. The TC4200 is a significantly newer piece of hardware compared to the older HP Tablets.

OK, HP probably just did not update their site.

In the user manual it says MultiBay or MultiBay II.

So I've bought an external MultiBay and a Toshiba Slim DVD+-R/W with an HP frame.

It works great and it does boot everything.

    regards,
    Markus
