No problem :) thank you for the thanks.

On another note, the EP121 that I tweaked is now being used by a director here and he absolutely loves the thing! ...Especially the Stylus and that's from someone who also loves the iPad (In your face Engadget!)

As soon as Asus release a new version with better battery life, I'll be buying again

Excalibur: thank you so much for sharing this very useful knowledge! :)

After making an image, I finally got to doing this, this weekend.

After some considerations, I ended up uninstalling a subset of what you uninstalled, same for disabling services

    Uninstalls:
    - RoxioNow
    - Microsoft Touch Pack (all except Globe)
    - Asus Webstorage
    - Amazon Kindle
    - Microsoft Office
    - Adobe Reader X
    - Windows Live Mail (removed Mail, Messenger, Family Safety, Messenger Companion / kept Live Mesh, Galllery and Movie Maker)
    - Windows Live Messenger

    Disabled services:
    - Distributed Link tracking Client
    - Function Discovery Resource Publication
    - Intel management & Security Application User Notification service
    - Intel management & Security Application LocalNotification service
    - Memory clean (Thats a new one!?)
    - Microsoft .Net framework NGEN V4.0 etc X64
    - Microsoft .Net framework NGEN V4.0 etc X32
    - Net Driver HPZ12
    - PML Driver HPZ12
    - Shell Hardware Detection
    - Superfetch (Should grab back some memory from cached events)
    - Windows Font Cache Service
    - Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service
    - Windows Presentation Foundation Font Cache 3.0.0.0
    - Windows Search
    - WinHTTP Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Service

Other/Optional: (These are all set to manual and are not running)
    - Disk Defragmenter (To make 100% your SSD doesn't get degragged)
    - Fax
    - Remote Registry
    - Smart Cards

Hope the machine is better :) I do wonder why oems AND Microsoft insist on having so many things running. It's like shooting yourself in the foot, sure you can run, but not fast.

COME ON MS.... WIn luck Win8 will be very lean especially if set to run on arm (Then again I'm sure that will be a different version)

Buying from Microsoft Store with their free Signature service, none of those extra software apps will be installed. Another reason to buy from MS Store in addition to a full system checkout that stores and big shipping outfits like Amazon don't do, and it costs no more. They also seem to ship faster than some of those other stores that show backorder.

Shame that MS doesn't sell/make their own machines.

P.s. If you find this tweak post helpful, feel free to rep or say thanks :)

How is the 320 drive working for you,
it seems it would make a world of a difference for the better? Inquiring minds would like to know, also is it the same physical size as the 64gig drive,
I figure after this much time you would have a closing dialog, Thanks ,CCC

    To conclude:

The 310 SSD made an already fast machine into a faster machine. If Asus can manage to increase the battery life of this model or even release a slightly thinner version with an AMD CPU (Think C50 like the W500) they would have covered both bases: Performance and general use.

All in all the best tablet I've owned thus far.

P.s. I have a feeling that we're in for a treat once Windows 8 hits the market!

Agreed! Can't wait for the beta and I believe we have one of the best devices to run it on. Also have my fingers crossed that Windows 8 will be able to squeak some additional battery like out of the Asus. I'm not expecting much since the Asus has some pretty thirsty chips, but anything would help.
