It is possible that this particulay unit had a manufacturing flaw.
...My thought, too. The plastic grip is none too large on this connector, and it's easy to believe that a simple molding flaw could result in the failure described...
I personally believe the defect was in the portion of the connector where it makes the 90 degree bend since the break occurred very close to it, inside the molded plug. In addition to that I still believe that the insertion male plug is simply too small in diameter for mobile use. Let's not forget how durable even the micro USB plug is and it carries charging voltages as well (albeit at a lower amperage and voltage)
should be moved to Ep121 forum
FYI, You can buy a replacement/2nd A/C adapter for your EP121 Slate on EBAY for as little as $25.
I bought one from Seller utopiadreamglobal. Search for auction:
AC Adapter Cord 4 ASUS Eee Slate EP121-1A010M Tablet PC
The brick is black and slightly larger than the original and w/o a USB charging port and a bit ugly but it makes a great 2nd adapter that I leave by my living room lounger.
The first adapter they sent me was defective - the connecter plug jiggled and the power cut in & out. Cost me another $3 to ship it back but they cheerfully replaced it with one that works well. They commented that they had sold many of these w/o any problems. So it probably won't happen to you.
