3% Battery drain in 24 hours of continuous use with 150cm microusb cable from encore power block to Vener8.
Using encores own 75cm cable it stays at 100% battery full charge permanently.

Encore + Vener8 desktop pc, charging without powered hub with standard encore power block

Using Inatek USB3 + Gigabyte Ethernet hub with a 32GB flash memory, K400 wireless keyboard and a 250GB external hard drive.

I haven't tested for long, I expect reasonable battery drain because of the power usage. But it should last longer than without charging.

Good for travelling, don't have to lug a powered usb hub around.

What firmware does your Encore have?

I ask because the Vener8 site has a warning about the Vener8 not working with certain firmwares.

I have the newest firmware installed with no problem, vener8 works perfectly.

I dont understand the warning on the Vener8 homepage, it works fine with any firmware.

My Bios is 1.60 ec version 1.20

Quick tip for anybody having problems connecting usb devices to encore using vener8....

Plug your devices into the Vener8 first and then plug Vener8 into the Encore.

If for some reason any usb device might still not be recognised, then plug that device into the encore using a normal OTG cable (to load necessary drivers) without vener8.
Afterwards said device with Vener8 is fine :)

And I've used Vener8 since June2014 with older and the newest Toshiba Encore Firmwares and software without a hitch. Even the last one with ec 1.20 works perfectly fine, so get that warning off the vener8 website

    Its a doddle....

Thanks for the reply. I erased the message because I solved the problem by installing the Intell Platform installer, as recomended after updating the BIOS. So, the Vener 8 works fine with BIOS 1.60 ec version 1.10.
