DVD possibly fried

    But you can understand that they need to protect themselves, should when they deliver the replacement you don't have the original to hand-over at the time. :)

    Good news!

    I got my replacement optical drive and it works like a champ :) :) :) :) :)

    I just have to send my NFG drive and it'll all be behind me. It was all done pretty quickly and with only minimal grief. The other nice thing is that I only have to send my old drive to a depot in Toronto. No worries for me with US Customs.

    Good to hear alphaswift.
    As I mentioned, my Daughters ASUS had the same problem and her Optical drive was replaced as well.
    I'm almost sure she said it was misalignment in the beam.
