Third, the length of time Bronsky has gone without experiencing the joy of a pen failure is amazing. Upon retirement his AVN8 should be put in a museum.

I'd rather be lucky than good.

Yea, I've had three successful cable replacement repairs across my two devices and one successful pre-emptive replacement. I didn't want to allow more than one vote per user though. Thought that might get confusing.

Well I managed to get the back cover off and tried massaging it, but no luck. Guess a Digikey order is in my future.

But I tried again, this time disabling and re-enabling the Wacom digitizer in the Device Manager and that got it working.

    Thanks!

Sometimes after a massage/reseat or replacement a reboot is required.

I finally decided to do it on my first M80TA dated from 01/14 and which was probably one of the first to have the issue. My second M80TA has no issue since I got it.
And after replacement, and few reboots, the pen is working.
Thank you Meso for this solution.

    I should vote twice:
    Replacing the cable worked.
I have had no digitizer issues.

I decided to vote that "Replacing the cable worked."

That's the right vote. The point of this was to give new people an idea of the effectiveness of the fix. If I had it to do over again I'd eliminate options 3 and 5. I only added them to make the possible responses "complete". But really it just confuses the polls purpose.

Option 5 in particular is not scientific at all considering, many more people with pen problems are likely to visit this thread than those that don't.

Bought 2 tablets at the same time about 6 months ago. Tablet one is still going strong, tablet two is fully functional again with replacement digikey cables. Easy fix, didn't bother massaging original cables.

I bought 2 of each cable when the digitizer went on the first unit, just so I have them when the other fails (which seems inevitable).

I don't mind though, I suspect it's why I got such an incredible deal on the machines in the first place. I bought them knowing about the problem and the fix.

Mind mentioning where/when/cost you purchased at? Thanks, Jeff
