I only reseated mine (both pen and touch cables), been working perfectly the same amount of time as yours now. haven't bothered buying the replacement spare cables yet!

I thought you posted pictures of putting foam between the folds ... or am I confusing you with someone else?

Oh yeah I did pad it out a little bit, sorry. I thought you meant 'not replacing the cable' :) I haven't had a single pen blip since though, which is quite amazing.

1 month now since I replaced the digitizer cable with the one from digikey (actually a couple days more than that), and it is still going strong. So far it has lasted longer than my first cable on my first M80TA which started showing symptoms (which at the time I ignored) after only 2 weeks.

Maybe I'm over cautious, isn't putting foam inside the package would risk flame ignition when the device overheats?

No. The flash point for most poly foams is in excess of 300C.

Not long after performing the DIY fix on the digitizer, the touch response of my vivotab note started failing around the center of the screen in landscape mode. I did cable relaxing on the TB cable this time (roll the flex cable around a tiny philips bit) and replugged the cable. Good as new.

    Should I do this preemptively?
Or is there a build date that quality improved?

I'm not averse to pulling it apart if it means that I can prevent the problem entirely.

Personally I'd wait for symptoms. Maybe pre-buy the cables.

There is no guarantee yet how long these fixes last. We don't even know for sure what exactly is happening. Maybe the sharply creased bend is breaking the cables. Maybe it is corrosion of the contacts or a loosing of the seating in the connector. Some of theses things may happen periodically regardless, and will require periodic fiddling.
