Disassembling of the TX2510us (and others?)

    I removed the black paint from the heatsink too.
    And, I'm searching for a litle cooper shin to replace the vga thermal pad.

    Why don't you use a copper penny ..old one with higher copper content. or a coppy gasket from plumbing or hardware store.

    I also notice the HP heat sick fan system is really skimpy.. I have a LG.. The heat sink is much more massive than this.

    maybe this is a stupid question I'm not sure. I understand why applying arctic silver would void the warranty, but my question is how would they know? More specifically, is there anyway they can determine the warranty has been voided if the evidence is kept clean?

    Disassembling the machine can potentially void the warrenty.

    Is not so bad these days actually, anything with a proper hatch wont, and you can open proper pc cases without any warrenty issues... laptops not so much as its a bit more fiddly.

    Theres probably some warrenty stickers somwhere, and well you will almost certinaly leave tool marks during disassembly.

    Additionaly... bioses have had support case open sensors for years but its not normally implemented on home PCs, its not entirly impossible that one of these is plumbed in. and a HP tech can read the data, however Id say this is pretty unlikey.
