Disappointed in Elitebook 2730p

    Sounds like a memory leak caused by the fingerprint reader driver. Uninstall the Fingerprint reader driver and HP Protect Tools. I had the same problem, there is no real fix until authentec issues a new driver.

    Since you bought it pre-used you should try cleaning the fans too. Use compressed air or just simply blow hard into the fan vent.
    You might also want to look into underclocking to reduce the heat. In some cases this can actually make the system faster since many components work better when you're not able to boil your eggs on them!

    I bought a refurbished unit directly from HP, loaded Windows 7 Pro x64 and have had ZERO problems. It's a huge upgrade from my old dv2000 and despite the second (slim) battery it's still lighter :)
