For what it is worth, I updated the BIOS to 501 but it did not do a thing. Still underthrottled.
do u have a EP121.bin file in your C:\ . that is version 204 bios. ?
Oh, I do have that file and it is 501 version. I would not ever know
So just to clarify your cpu would not go up at all after the boot up reason im asking i seem to be experiencing the same thing however mine will go up occasionally but compared to before the cpu seems to not move from 653MHz very often
can you try cpu-z to see if you get same results?
Sorry run what ?
CPU-Z ... download links are on the right. Download either the EXE installer or ZIP (if you don't want to install it). It'll show you in realtime your processor speed.
I seem to be toggling between 5x and 7x (665 and 931MHZ) fairly regularly according to CPU Z
Glad to know that some people aren't having this problem. I wonder is my unit defective then, or are the majority of people experiencing this?
This machine performs beautifully when the CPU scales appropriately, but under 700MHz just is too slow for even moderate usage.
Also do you have the bios notes for the 501 file. Can you tell me a little more about your machine? Purchased in US or Canada? Mine is from Canada pre-ordered in February, 64GB version w/o custom hardware or OS changes.
I would really like to get to the bottom of this so we can make ASUS take note.
Mine is 64GB model from Amazon. Came with 401 BIOS and I just flashed it with 501 today. Problem kicks in after about 5-10 min of heavy workload which is about the same time as CPU hits 60C.
Problem goes away if you let system cool down and turn back on.
