SP use wacom's chip as shown in the tearing pic, maybe MS bought the hardware but skim on the driver part :v
Anyway, it's been too long without any news, wondering if SP2 or wintab driver will be released first...

I've been hounding MS on twitter pretty regularly. The latest I've gotten is this.

It has been 34 days since Steven said they were testing a beta driver.

Well, at least it's a sympathetic update saying it's a top priority (and mentioning Wintab by name). That's a lot better than total silence.

I totally agree. It doesn't excuse the lack of a driver, but it gives me hope.

That said, it is May. I think we can safely say that the responses we got shortly after launch were basically blowing smoke. 78 days is not "soon."

wow what a thread on Surface Pro Wacom...
Fujitsu paid Wacom to ensure Wintab drivers will work.
ASUS did not pay any for Wintab driver
Microsoft is trying to promote their API and did not pay for driver where most graphic software do not use ms api.
I don't have Surface Pro and Win 8..

That's good news. Maybe hopefully it'll be part of Tuesday's updates, next week?

They had to use that word again... "soon."

It has been 86 days since "soon." :/

Any progress is progress, I guess.

    Good News...Hopefully

Wacoms Released a new "Feel" Driver ....hopefully this will solve the pressure woes with the Surface Tablet as well as the other Win 8 Slates.

TABLET PC – Enhanced Tablet Driver 7.1.1-12

Expand the capabilities of your tablet computer with the enhanced tablet driver for systems that use Wacom Feel IT® technology! Installing this driver will provide many advanced pressure-sensitive features that Wacom pen tablet users have come to enjoy. The driver supports advanced features such as pressure-sensitivity in graphics applications such as Adobe Photoshop and Corel Painter. It also allows you to adjust the pen tip pressure sensitivity and to program the side switch of the pen for a wide range of alternative settings and functions.

This driver should be installed on tablets that have Wacom feel IT technologies or Wacom Pen based technologies. This driver will also support older Penabled Tablet PCs running Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP Tablet Edition.

    Driver installation

Click on the Download link and save the file to your computer. If you are upgrading from a previous Wacom driver version, uninstall that driver first for best results. Restart the system prior to installing the new driver.
Double-click on the downloaded file to launch the installer and follow the prompts.
If prompted, restart the system by clicking the Ok button.
