Can the CPU in the c213 be upgraded? - It's nt soldered to the board or anything is it?

Anyone actually ever successfully unscrewed and opened a c200 series? - Any advice?

I thought only Macs have soldered CPUs. I may be wrong. Anyone?

Well I was just asking because I hear that some UMPCs and smaller notebooks have them soldered on board - I just wanted to be sure and make sure I don't spend ages taking it apart for nothing :p

Oh, that's true. I forgot to mention that. BUT the c200 series is neither an UMPC nor an ultralight notebook, so I don't think it should be a problem.

The c200 series have an 915pm or 915gm chipset. That one support at maximum 133mhz fsb (533mhz). That mean that you can put inside every pentium m cpu (up to 780 (2,26 GHz)). These are listed as supported on the official acer homepage.

The most interesting thing is, that there are 2 core duo cpu that are also supported from the chipset but not officialy supported by acer.
    One of them is the T2050 (2 x 1.6ghz)
An example with the 915 chipset you can see here:
    http://www.yatego.com/tuning-team/p...4,notebook-17-zoll--core-duo-t2050-2x-1-6-ghz

And the fastest cpu that maybe work in the c200 is the T2250 (2 x 1,73ghz)
There exist an acer notebook with that combo ( 915pm chip and T2250 cpu)
    http://notebooks.neoshop.ru/show_notebooks.html?notebook_id=634

When you can get that cpu, please try it if it work or not.

the bios has too support the cpu for the upgrade too work. Check acers ftp to see if they added support for any of core 2 support in a recent bios.
