    Greetings:

As the news headline indicates, as of this morning, you can now place orders for the 2710p online.

I did this morning and have the following tidbits of information for this forum, which I have consulted many times:

    • They are projecting a two week delivery time. We'll see.
    • The Ultra-Slim Battery and Expansion Base are not available yet. They think that it will be in August. We'll see.
    • If you don't purchase one of the "Smart Buy" configurations, you may feel somewhat stupid. There are incentives that they have incorporated into the pricing that make them significantly cheaper. The two top configurations are $600 apart, yet the ONLY difference is that the CHEAPER one has a bigger HDD (100GB v. 80 GB). Since they are the same speed/throughput, it really feels stupid to pay more for the lesser configuration.

I'll post with a review and information when it arrives.

Indeed, the "Smart Buy" models are a smart buy to pursue after. :)

Would you mind if you told us what, if any, accessories you bought to go along with your 2710p?

I bought only the AT&T HSDPA WWAN Card. The accessories that I wanted, the Ultra-Slim battery and Ultra-Slim Expansion Base, were not yet available.

Any one knows which model have the built in camera?

Also, I want to customize it to the following specs:

    1.2 GHZ cpu
    3 GB ram
    Integ Camera
    Outdoor Viewable Screen
    100 GB hard drive
    Dock and the ultra battery
    etc...

    When can we start customizing?

The Camera is part of the standard configurations. I don't know about the outdoor viewable screen, however. RAM and HDD variations are in the preconfigured models.

The dock and the battery are accessories and wouldn't be considered "custom configurations". Same with RAM--even if you buy it, you install it yourself.

The customizations are around the following components:

    Hard Drive Size
    Bluetooth
    WWAN
    Screen (Maybe)

Except for the screen and hard drive, everyone can be added/purchased now. The ultrabase and ultraslim battery are accessories that aren't available yet. I suppose I should disclose that I can't say that the tablet itself is even available, since I've ordered one but it hasn't been delivered. There are apparently plenty of WWAN cards, as I already have that. (!)

The camera is now listed on HP's site. Only the midlevel configuration, RM272UT, has it.

Update on the difference between the two models:

The more expensive model ("UA") has a smaller hard drive (80 v. 100) and no camera. HOWEVER, the RAM in the more expensive model is a single 2 GB DDR module. The cheaper model has two 1 GB DDR modules. If you want to upgrade from 2GB, you'll have to dispose of both of them.

I'm still up for saving the money, but it's a difference that may matter to others.
