Do these tablets and slates that don't have an internal optical drive boot from USB or Firewire? How do you install windows or recover your system and stuff?
The only thing keeping me from buying a slate is precisely that fear that i have to do with the factory image on the hdd, full of it's crapware.

I take it you have read the paper on the Microsoft web site ~ 'Recommendations for Booting Windows from USB Storage Devices'
You can find the info here.

That microsoft paper doesn't say anything. Well, it doesn't tell us if we can, or how. Basically it just says it depends on your bios. I just wanted to know if the tablets and slates that don't have internal optical drive supports usb booting.

One way to find out is to find out what Motherboard chipset the slate tablet uses, and then Google that chipset to see if it supports USB Booting.

I think most newer motherboads do have that feature.
