I dont really know as i was looking for something to replace my note 8.0 and i was looking at the tab a and the zenpad s. Basically the tab a is pretty much the same specs as the aging note 8.0 ans the zenpad s doesnt have a siloed pen and celular connectivity... so i decided to just keep my note 8.0.

    Sorry

I went for the Zenpad. As you said, the Note 8 is aging, I was constantly having memory problems and none of the apps I installed wanted to put anything on the external SD card.

The fact that it doesn't have a siloed pen was less important than just being able to actually install stuff on it (I don't need any cellular connectivity). The most important drawback is the fact that there are no AAAA rechargable batteries...

Galaxy Tab A 10 with S Pen now down to $279 at B&H Photo if anyone is curious...

One caveat - the Microsoft experience on these is great, but a lot of the Android software is good, but not as well written as the same versions on iOS (I don't game much, but board games like Scrabble are better on iOS, as are some basics like Weather Channel). But considering it has better inking than the Surface Book (not just accuracy but feel of pen on screen), expandable memory, and $320 LESS than the cheapest refurbished iPad Pro 9.7 with an Apple Pencil (and no pen point clicking noise when writing on the screen), it is a STEAL.

    Might as well get two...

Exactly, because that way you'll have a total of 32GB storage. :D

Otherwise very tempting at that price.

You can (with a simple hack - no root), enable adoptable storage and expand the devices storage capability using your mem card.

Does that work on this model? I didn't even realize it had a (micro?) SD card slot.

Yes - please point us in the right direction...oops - took a look at XDA-Developers and this looks like major surgery to me, even if not rooting the device...
