Not for nothing, but this isn’t the first time it was rumored Samsung would be abandoning the Note line. A few years back I remember similar tech gossip.

I do find it a bit suspect only because of the imminent launch of the Note 20+ , just odd this would leak now before its release. I could see this rumor hitting more in winter/spring. I’d imagine these decisions are more based on sales, so the Sales of the Note 20+ , If they are good enough could save the brand for another year.

I’d be more concerned if the -S-pen for the S21 Ultra might be the switch from EMR Spens to AES Spens, which I’m been predicting for a while.

Agreed, I recall that as well. But, it would make sense that the fold wtih SPen displaces the Note series.

So just to stir the pot a bit. We've heard from Samsung staff informally that the Fold 3 will be for all intents and purposes the replacement for the note. And allegedly something like 70% of fold purchasers have been former Note users.

OTOH to throw some cold water on this, we've also heard that the reason the fold doesn't already have S-Pen support is that they to date have not able to solve interference and tracking accuracy issues when the screen is anything other than flat. And in fact folded its bad to the point of being totally unusable.

Not to be a PITA, but you are wrong @darkmagistric - there is no way they will abandon Wacom EMR on the Fold 3; it could ONLY happen if they can never solve the tracking issue on a folding screen - and I would be shocked if that is the case. Add to that @desertlap's informal findings, and my bet is the "cheap" Note will be an add-on to the S21 line, and the REAL Note will be a Galaxy Fold 3 unit (maybe simply Fold Note).

My comments passed another - even if it won't work folded, but will work flat, you'll have Note support on the front facing glass and and Note support when opened flat - more than good enough.
