I have been talking with @dstrauss and others about my quest for a two device solution and recently for my personal equipment I jumped in with both feet to the Apple Camp, after being a windows guy forever.

The portable solution being the pro 11 with keyboard and now mouse (courtesy of the public beta) as well as an iMac at home (also running the beta). It's been a challenge but overall I'd call it a success. I'm even able to do a lot of work stuff via MS quite useful Remote Desktop app. The main limitation being current LTE speed or lack thereof.

One thing I think that we are all guilty of because we have been around this for awhile is that we are stuck in the way we have always done things and therefore anything that doesn't work that way seems broken or harder.

My daughter is a big advocate of adapting your workflow to the tools you have vs, trying to force the tools to work the way you are used to or want to.

Truthfully I think the real answer is probably in the middle.

The one disturbing trend I'm seeing though is that in the companies quest to integrate their won devices as seamlessly as possible, they are neglecting more general interoperability.
This is one area where MS could and should lead, but so far it seems to be half hearted.

Don't worry, you can trust @Bronsky and yours truly to always hold the fort. My daily usage has been narrowed down to the SGo and the GN8. The SB serves more as a desktop, never leaves the house.

I have now a work Note 5 & a personal Note 9, both only use on the weekends at home. They are quite reduntant usage-wise, honestly.

I found myself using a Note 10.1 exclusively at work in Tokyo, with the Surface 3 & a Lenovo T460 docked permanently in my office.

I reckon I'm on my 1-device phase & enjoying it.

Not so fast old buddy - as soon as @Bronsky learns that an iPad Mini can do his nautical thing AND last 8-10 hours (instead of 4-5) on a battery, you will be the last man standing...

Nah! That alone is not enough to move the man. The IPM would need more stunts up its sleeves to impressed him.

Those of you pinning your hopes on 5g (looking at you @Bronsky) need to view Joanna Stern's video study of 5g in the first four test cities.
