I'm using the Toshiba satellite R10. When I switch of my laptop with it connected to the AC power source I my battery indicator shows that it is fully charged but when I switch my laptop back on, it show that it is only 97-98% charged. Is this common or is my battery spoilt?

I wouldn't be too concerned. The Windows battery calibration software is not exactly "100%" perfect!

Also many machines don't charge until the battery falls under 90% to save your battery for needless charge cycles that eat up its productive life.

Very true. Good point Brian. Perhaps that is indeed the issue.
