    Hi guys,
I was told that XE500t price will be immediately cut by Samsung by around 40% (300€ out of 800€ in Italy, just to make my example).
Do you think this is fair vs an early adopter perspective (like I am for example).

In my view it is a crazy move from Samsung!
    Comments?

Your source? Nothing wrong with fairness and price cuts. I paid $600 but I would welcome the new low price if that happens. Look how nexus 7's low $200 price tag is changing the tablet market.

That's the price early adopters pay!
Early adopters pay most of the time the jackpot price because they have the urge to be the first to have it.
Price generally drops within a few months when the product is released.

You shouldn't even care in my opinion, prices fluctuate all the time, or will be cheaper somewhere else (deals).
If you care too much you'll be annoying yourself more and more.

    Told by whom, entity00??

Price drops are expected for several reasons:

    • the excessive consumerism incited by Xmas leads to uncontrollable urges.
    • OEMs take advantage of the Xmas rush to charge a kidney for their goods.
    • once Xmas is over -- and CC statements come in the mail -- reality sinks in.
    • people start spending less, which decreases demand. That leads to price drops.
    • 4 months after release, excitement around products tends to wane down.
    • the announcement of the Surface Pro created a tremendous buzz.
    • the announcement of its $900 price tag heightened the buzz 10-fold.
    • once the Surface Pro arrives, the demand for other tablets will weaken further.

Now, having said that, a 40% price drop sounds implausible to me. 20-30% sounds more reasonable. But the lower they drop, the better. I hope you're right. What's your source?

This price drop could be due to the horrible keyboard docking design. Maybe they are trying to ditch this inventory in favor of a better designed next gen. Even though I returned both the 500 and 700, I would repurchase at a reduced price and use a bt keyboard.

It sucks for me. I just bought one a few days ago on Amazon. I wonder is it just in the EU or will the price reduction hit the states as well?

While I believe prices are likely to drop (see my post above), there's no reason (so far) to take it as a "fact".

Agreed. With no source, citation or way to verify, I cannot give it much credence. Since there are none in stock anywhere around me at all (US, California) it hardly makes any difference. Perhaps they are considering price reductions to get people back into stores once there is actually stock on hand for those wanting to purchase. There have been none around me for at least 30 days, which can quickly dampen a consumers desire for a product.

An online store in Italy started selling them a few days ago. They seem to have run out of their limited stock, but when contacted said that the price cut came directly from Samsung and was not a promotion started by them. Probably other stores will update their prices as soon as they get in new stock. Here's the link to the product page Darty - ATIV SMART PC XE500T1C A01 - Notebook da 13' a 14' SAMSUNG () while here is a link to an article made by one of the most professional specialised bloggers il Tablet PC Italico: Samsung ATIV Smart PC XE500, prezzo tagliato di 300 euro, i Tablet PC Atom finalmente iniziano a diventare attraenti

    Hope I was helpful.
    Regards
