If you're anal-retentive like I am at times, you might be wondering about Asus "ACReminder" that you see in the all apps section of the start screen.

The Asus driver page says that it's necessary for recovery of the device. They're full of it.

I've done one Windows reset with it installed, and another with it uninstalled. Literally, its only purpose that I can see is to give you a banner notification when you try to reset reminding you to plug in the power connection... which is great, but Windows doesn't let you reset the device with the power disconnected anyway.

Can someone point the direction to updated Wacom drivers compatible with this device?

I saw mention in another thread that they updated their Wacom drivers or firmware.

I don't see anything at the Asus site in the drivers area that seems to govern pen/Wacom input.

    Thanks!

Wacom hasn't updated their drivers since October 2013 and still has a warning on their page about the current version not working on the Note 8.

My tip: Get a screen protector immediately. The original screen coating is piss poor and smudges are extremely hard to get rid off as they just stick to the glass -- even with white gas, window cleaner, microfibre cloth and intense rubbing action.

I got a 3€ matt "dipos"-branded screen protector and this annihilated my single biggest gripe with the tablet. Smudges are hardly visible and easily wiped off.

Use microSD card as default media location for music / pictures / videos
Just go over the Windows Charms bar: Settings > Change PC Settings > PC and devices > Devices. On this page, on the very bottom is the setting for "Default save locations", with the SD card inserted, click Setup and follow the instructions, tadaah. Windows creates specific Picture, Video and Music folders with the suffix "(YourUsernameHere)" on your card.

For those that hate the new Windows onscreen keyboard, there
is a way to get a more traditional re-sizable, movable keyboard
that has all the function keys, etc.

    From the Desktop got to
    Start> Programs> Windows Ease of Access> On-Screen Keyboard

You can create a short cut and pin it to your taskbar.

I wish they still had the old TIP, it was movable, writable,
re-sizable, and it didnot mess up your programs sizing, as it
    floated on top.
Plus, you did not have to go to the bottom to
get it to pop up, the TIP shortcut was right by where you needed it.

I ordered these. It looks like they shipped from Germany via Deutschepost. http://www.amazon.com/Screen-protec...sr=8-11&keywords=screen+protector+asus+note+8 I ordered the 3 pack.

Another option for the old-style on-screen keyboard (although personally, I can't see why anyone would want it - I find the new one to be far superior), since I assume nobody reading this forum is blind / using the Narrator feature...

Go to Control Panel> Ease Of Access Center> Make Touch and Tablets Easier to Use
Switch from the default of "Narrator" to "On-Screen Keyboard".

Now, it'll pop up the old OSK any time you hold the Win key and press Volume Up.

Edit: And if you just want it because you're missing all of the function keys, there's a better option anyway. Go to PC Settings> PC and Devices> Typing
Enable "Add the standard keyboard layout as a touch keyboard option".

    Good tip johff80.

However, with the new Win 8 keyboard,
you can not move it around on top of your program,
nor resize it to much extent.
Unless I am missing a setting?

Yes, you can have the new Win 8 tip over your screen, and at any place. The "only" limitations are resizing and a tooltip to open it immediately, like Seven.
You make it floating by clicking on the small square icone, just near the closing cross icon, on the upper right corner of the tablet input panel. This is how I use it. The main reason is because I do not like that everything is moving when I open the TIP.
