I actually didn't use the SoC package when I did a clean Windows 10 install on mine.

Granted, I used an OTG cable with a mouse for navigation, to go into Device Manager to force update some drivers, but it does get everything working.

    Anniversary update last night.

    This morning:
    Touch screen not responding.
    Battery indicator disappeared from taskbar.
Charge level not visible in Settings.
Brightness control missing in action panel.
Brightness level not visible in settings
Internet not working despite wifi connection showing internet access.
    Pen not working.

Had to login via bluetooth mouse and keyboard. Luckily bluetooth was on. Cable/OTG mouse/keyboard would have worked I believe.

    Reinstalled:
    SOC Version 10E
    Wacom driver 7209
both available on Asus.com website support page

Everything now working as it should.

Anniversary works well for me. The forum helped me change the video cable which fixes the loss of touch screen that occasionally happened. Unfortunately the charging USB port is now acting up and doesn't always charge. It may be time to move on. Not sure to what though.

If you were able to change the cables, you may be able to replace the board on which the Micro USB socket is mounted. There is a thread on this site explaining exactly how to do that. Or you can try to get an electronics guy to change it.

To avoid wear on the USB socket these things look pretty handy. I have just bought a couple thanks to your warning. Not arrived yet.

There is a video on YouTube comparing various makes - these were the winners. Be careful, don't buy the brand ZNAPS. There are reports that they were a crowdfunding scam and everybody got burnt. In any case they are two or three times the price of what they need to be. Read customer reviews to check the quality of the ones you decide on. Some of the makes have interfaces that get jammed in the micro USB socket.

The Wsken X magnetic charging cables arrived and I must say that being able to connect without fumbling around or worrying about damaging the port is a dream. They are completely self-seeking. Hold the cable near the device and the connector jumps into place.

However it's not all sweetness and light. The side of the interface that plugs into the device has exposed contacts and it's not clear what damage touching something metal will do. The pins on the side that is magnetised are recessed and metallic debris may accumulate without an obvious possibility to remove it.

We will see how we go. I will report in case I have issues.

Hello all, I have a VivoTab (different with a VivoTab-Note)

    Homepage: https://www.asus.com/us/Tablets/ASUS_VivoTab_8_M81C/

On the Asus page, there is no instructions on how to upgrade to Windows-10.

Could you please so kind to tell me how to upgrade to Win-10.

    Thanks alot.

re Wacom drivers (after "upgrade" to win10), I reinstalled Wacom driver 7209 from Asus site, but messiah mentioned an update in Nov. and another suggested installing the Feel It drivers. Is there a more up to date, functioning driver for Wacom for the VivoTab 8 with windows 10 or should I stick with what I got from Asus?
