AFAIK, WHQL doesn't mean it will be included with Windows or on Windows Update. It just means you don't get that annoying "unsafe" message when you install the drivers.

For example, if you go to NVidia's site, you will see that for example their latest driver (Nov 6th release) for GeForce cards says WHQL certified. However this driver is not included in Vista nor is it available via Windows Update.

So essentially what the Press Release was saying was that Asus submitted its drivers to MS and MS tested and digitally signed them. So the drivers are already written, and it is now just a matter of Asus releasing them. It is entirely possible the drivers currently on Asus's site are these WHQL drivers, but Asus put the "beta" moniker on them in the same way Google puts "Beta" on all its services. My guess is when Vista is actually available in stores this beta tag will disappear.
