I was looking for a barcode app like for the ipad using the camera not scanner, and it dawned on me there wasnt a thread for 'apps'
Lots for windows mobile, but what about win 7 specifically on Slate 500.

Maybe we can start collecting good, grown up apps (not really counting angry birds etc :)

Anyway, welcome thoughts; first question is on the barcode app.

    regards, and thx in advance

Two reading focused apps: The Kindle App for text and ComicRack for comics. Both support touch control, though neither have touch friendly menus. The latter is unfortunately somewhat bloated as well, though it does have a lot of functionality.

I'd really like a touch-friendly music player with a touch-friendly way to navigate the library. Tried foobar2000, Winamp, and iTunes over the weekend, and they all fail at using touch to navigate a large library.

For music I put Albumplayer (albumplayer.com) on my slate. I originally used it for a Touch Screen Jukebox in my game room. It is designed for Touch Screens and has flip scrolling support. The only thing it lacks is a "Genius" option for picking music. It has some pseudo genius like options but I haven't had much luck with them. Other than that it works really well and has a cool skin-able interface. It's also not free but you can download a trial version.

Does anyone know of a good crosswords app for windows 7. I had an Android tablet for a while (sold it when I got the slate) and it had an app called Shortyz Crosswords that I really liked. It would download new crosswords everyday from the web. I've tried the Google gadget and some of the online crosswords and they are just not the same. I've Searched around but had no luck finding anything. Anybody have suggestions??
