I haven't receive my TM2 yet but I plan on installing Ubuntu to a Class 6, 16GB SD Card and running it from there.

I wanted to know if Ubuntu on TM2 would play nice with the touchscreen? I'm not expecting any of the fancy things like multi-touch or writing but I'm wondering if basic touch/drag is supported?

Also if you know of anyone doing a custom Kernel, do tell.

    Thanks.

I know there are pen drivers for Linux for Wacom digitizers so I would imagine that touch support should be out there by now as well. I think there's a thread about this subject floating around these forums.

When I set up my multiboot environment I allocated some spare partitions for the purpose of installing alternative OSes. Once I figure out how to install a bootloader for linux on a USB drive (I don't want it to go on my main HDD - had some bad experience in the past with Lilo/grub wiping out my Windows bootloader) I will then try installing ubuntu (desktop).

I plan to install Ubuntu on mine when I get it tomorrow - apparently the touchscreen and the digitizer work well once you install the latest wacom drivers.

A tried to install Ubuntu 9.10, but the switchable graphics are a problem.

I'm going to get the TM2 without switchable graphics-I absolutely do not play games on the road (better to play them on my CrossFireX triple monitor gaming rig at home).

I need to confirm 4 things about the TM2 before I finally plunk down the cash:

1: What size (physical dimensions) SSD can replace the internal hard drive? Update: 2.5" standard SATA
2: Is there room inside for a Sprint broadband modem with GPS? Update: Yes!
3: Can the internal WiFi card be swapped out for one that has bluetooth built in
4: If it can boot from the SD card, will it work with Acronis OS selector? I plan to dual boot Ubuntu and Windows 7

Curious about this one, what device fits in there exactly?

All I can picture is a stripped U727 unit lol!
