    Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't 99% of patents these days, "pre-emptive"? Since, there's no legal requirement for a working prototype—let alone a commercially-viable implementation—you get two options:

    A) You are the first to develop a commercial product, in which case the patent becomes "defensive".

    B) Someone beats you to it, so now you can sue them (or at least have legal justification for "original imitation", ie. copying :D)

    All in all, all these numerous MS patents point to a product coming sooner or later, doesn't it? I hope so, personally. I want to be an early adaptor for this form factor.

    I don't thing I can gove up my Note. I'm thinking a new Note 10 this year.

    Me too. Still loving my Note 5 (with Note 9) on the way. But I don't mind a MS foldable :)

    This doesn't necessarily mean that Microsoft will come out with something. The OEMs are definitely going to release folding devices so Microsoft needs to get Windows 10 compatible with it just like Google has been tweaking Android ahead of time for foldable smartphones.
