And even if it does, the OEM bas****s will still put crappy display screens on them and cripple them with small size batteries.

Just a couple reminders about IPC and performance per watt:

The fight is in the fact to be able to book the production lines at TSMC to build the CPUs in 5nm:

TSMC 5 nm Node Supply Fully Booked, Apple the Biggest Customer | TechPowerUp

At the same time, Intel investors are suggesting that the production be externalized:

And Samsung is investing big money to catch-up with 5nm and 3nm

And Apple may have booked all the 3nm lines already...

I wouldn't be too sure about that quite yet. This has all the makings of the next big thing in CPU architecture: on-the-fly custom programmable instructions. I can only guess, but this could be a result of their Xilinx acquisition, exactly what people were wanting from FPGAs in PC hardware. Via Reddit:

Read AnandTech’s Intel Core i9-10850K review that went out yesterday and was a gentle three-month reminder why Intel is losing major ground to Ryzen 5000 and Zen 3. Imagine a world where a 6-core processor for 65 watts beats your 8-core processor rated for 125 watts and your 10-core processors rated for 125 watts loses to an 8-core processor rated for 105 watts, and there you have Intel. Never mind that the 6-core and 8-core processors of said competitor each cost less as well to further cook your goose.

SPEC is considered by many industry experts as the last word in benchmarking microprocessors, and what a tour-de-force this is... for AMD, that is! For quick reference, nT refers to multicore performance and 1T to single-threaded performance in the accompanying charts showcasing this exhilarating exhibition.

Moving on, see also CPU bound gaming performance in full display. When you lower the resolution to shift the load from the GPU to the CPU, Intel goes from barely neck and neck to a distant lead in gaming latency. The exception to this rule is Civilization VI, which is highly threaded and therefore needing many and fast cores across all resolutions—from 480p to 4K, because more and more games like it utilize more cores to churn out the intense detail from the sheer number of set pieces on a game map at any time.
