The Fire HD 7 is a mid-size tablet that that runs Amazon’s modified version of Android. It's focused mostly on shopping and ebooks, but can be used for social networking, web access, games, and much more. It’s suggested price starts at just $139.

I look at Amazon tablets as almost the "Apple" of android devices. They have modified the os so far from android, to make it both tied in totally to Amazon's app store-which is not as good as Google's Playstore-and also to make it easier for people to use. So one bad point, one good.
Overall, the processor just isn't that good, and no sd card is a poor decision. With the glut of low cost, Intel powered android and Windows devices available, I think someone would be better off getting one of those, unless you're already tied into the Amazon ecosysytem and don't care to customize(or have much of any control of) your tablet.
