Here's a wild guess as to why the Pentium: MS wants to favor Intel for some reason (maybe a formal partnership, or maybe for some strategic market reason), and since Intel no longer makes the Atom line and doesn't recommend Core-I processors for devices this small, it comes down to the Pentium or Celeron. Could that be at play here?
The 4155Y is a Kaby Lake, so essentially what an i3 used to be. Dual Core 4 threads. It is confusing since now Intel uses the Pentium and Celeron names on both full laptop and desktop CPUs as well as Atom SoCs...
I will not exchange the replacement of my AVN8, my GB10, by the Surface Go. The main reason : the SPen.
Actually after seeing this... I don't think I'm getting it. It's actually quite a bit bigger. https://www.phonearena.com/phones/s...face-Go,Asus-VivoTab-Note-8/phones/10933,8288
I know this isn't technically a slate mini-tablet, but have you guys checked out the One Mix Yoga? It's got a surprisingly high resolution 1920x1200 screen, Atom x5-Z8350 CPU, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of eMMC storage, and a hefty 6,500 mAh battery. It also has a nice array of ports that puts the VTN8 to shame: The pen looks like it might be some AES variant (maybe N-Trig)? Anyone have any more details? I really could see myself carrying this around like I did the VTN8 during my travels, except I could literally pocket this like my phone!
Unfortunately not. I know, not a true VTN8 replacement, but I could see myself using it in the exact same way while traveling: taking notes on the fly, looking at maps, offloading pics onto the local storage/microSD. Even a has 16:10 screen like the VTN8 so inking in OneNote should feel similar. All-in-all, useful little guy...
