Anyone found a compatible PSU for this unit at a reasonable price? Asus shop want $40.00 for one and I think that's quite high.

I use the Samsung Galaxy Tab charger with the ME400 and it works fine. I keep the ASUS charger at home and the Samsung charger at work. It's the same 5v 2amp spec as the ASUS charger and works the same as far as I can tell. Amazon has these for $15. I suspect you could find some generic chargers even cheaper, but those seem to fall apart too quick, the Samsung charger has held up really well.

Out of curiosity, are you using the 30 pin connector from the Samsung charger as well, or are you using the cable from the original charger?

Also, does anyone know if the TF810C and the VivoTab Smart share the same charging connector?

No, the Samsung 30 pin cable won't work. I have a bunch of extra micro USB cables laying around that I'm able to use instead.

Yes. The VivoTab Smart has a standard micro USB connector that's used both for charging and connecting USB peripherals. As far as I can gather, the 810C uses a special 30-pin port and connector for charging, connecting a dongle to host standard USB devices, and connecting to the keyboard/dock.

The TF810C cable also has 5 extra pins deep inside the connector. Otherwise the specs are the same 2A 5V output.

Are you using the original cable? My transformer prime also had those pins and when I tried to extend the original/ charging/usb cable it didn't work.

However the TF810C charges from my Laptop's USB 2.0 connection but that's only 500mAh.

You might want to check the samsung chargers for extra pins too or charging might take a looong while.
