ok here's how you install the drivers:

    - open the device manager
    - find the unknown device correspondent to the ENE CIR device
    - right click it and choose update driver
    - choose "No, not this time" and click next
    - choose "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" and click next
    - choose "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install." and click next
    - in the list search and select "Human Interface Devices" and click next
    - on the left Manufacturer list select "Microsoft" and in the right Model list select "Infrared HID Device" and click next
    - a warning will appear, click "yes"
    - the driver will install
    - click "finish"

probably three or more extra devices will install, if windows asks for drivers just let it find them automatically, when everything is installed... you are done, no more annoying ENE CIR "unknown" device.

I haven't tested the hardware, I mean my remote works fine, but it works without the driver and I don't even know what is so special about this thing, since it's not an infrared port (irDA) you can't use it with your cellphone or any other standard ir device. So it only works with specific ir transceiver hardware, like remote controls, keyboards and mice, I don't have any of those so I can't test it but if the remote works I think that means the infamous ENE CIR is working too.

Why dont we just keep vista and run XP thru a virtual PC inside vista. That way everything works fine and you can still use your XP software.....

Ive taken the liberty of researching a few alternatives

    1st free VirtualBox http://www.virtualbox.org/

    2nd free MicrosoftVirtualPC 2007 http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/virtualpc/default.mspx

    3rd Parallel workstation http://www.parallels.com/products/workstation/
    (free@torrents;) )

    4th MY Favorite VMware workstation6 http://www.vmware.com/products/ws/

    (also free@torrents;) )

Im gonna try this method and a few basic audio and video drivers....somebody try it and let us know how it works...

you need xp tablet edition if you want stuff like the built in tablet input panel, that you can use to ink in non ink programs, browsers etc, and if you want the OS to actually be able to handle handwriting recognition.

As well as the use of tablet specific applications & tools that MS made available, such as:

    The Experience Pack
    The Education Pack
    Sudoku
    The XP Tablet Power Toys

If you just want to use the touch screen for manipulation XP would be fine, and though you can find add on tools to creae some of the effect of tablet edition, its no going to be as fluid.

    @seco, yes they should.
@v0va, except all XP softwares work, and the TIP is different, there not much to worrie about siwtching over.

Also, I'm uploading pack v1.4 right now on rapidshare, this new pack will contain 3 video drivers:
    8.6 , 8.7, 8.8
use whichever works right for you.
Will also include HP and Gigabyte's SATA drivers.
Also, let me know if there any other drivers or software related I should be including in my pack.

    Thank you,
    -Vincent

I'd like to thank all of those involved in making this compliation. After a couple trials I finally got XP tablet installed on my tx2517cl with all drivers, but I did notice something odd. In my sys properties the speed of the cpu is always different ranging from 100mhz to 1.00ghz every time i load up windows. This seems to be affecting certain programs also. Any ideas?
