So i need to get a dongle/adapter for the Surface Pro 5, that includes an RJ45 port, but I'd also like to be able to use it with the Samsung Galaxy Book 12. If i buy a USB 3.0 dongle (like say this), can i then plug that into a usb 3.0 to usb c adapter and it still work??

really trying to limit the amount of peripherals I have to carry.

    Any suggestions?

No guarantees, but if you use it with a cable adapter (female USB-A <> male USB-C) then I would expect the basic USB data functions (USB3 ports, card slots, & Ethernet) to work with the Samsung GB12, but not the HDMI which probably relys on the mDP connection to the SP5.

I have used this USB3 hub from Plugable. It works fine with my MacMini's USB-A ports and with my Surface Go's USC-C port, each with appropriate cable. One nice thing is that it has removable cables so it is easy to use the appropriate connections.
