From everything I am seeing, the hard drive looks like a standard IDE versus the Serial ATA you get in most other tablets. From what I know about this, that seems to make little difference in performance, but could have an impact on heat. Anyone have any thoughts about this?

I can tell you first hand that the Acer does not heat up any more than the average Sonoma-based machine. I can actually sway towards the "cooler" side with this machine based on my personal impression.

Well, this sounds like a gem of a tablet. I am looking for my first, and this seems like a pretty good machine in terms of price versus power. But I think I might wait until the full review comes out before I make any final decisions.

It seems that the first thing to fail on a tablet would probably be the little rotating hinge... any thoughts on the durability of the c314's hinge?

Also, any idea when the full review will be out? I cant wait =)

The hinges are generally very strong, since you're right, they see more wear than anything other than the power button. I'm sure the Acer is fine, though Barry could comment further.

I have to say, the hinge on the Acer is solid. I would have no concerns about that particular part on the C314 failing. You'd probably wear out the enter key first LOL...

LOL - I think the M4 is next, then the Acer, with the ElectroVaya somewhere in between done by another reviewer.

I know I am waiting for the reviews on both of those models, as well. Of course, by the time they come out, there will probably be another model from someone that fits what I am looking for, and I will have to wait for reviews again!
