Well, it wouldn't be the first time I was off base (or the last I dare say). You're probably right, but the labeling of the USB-C port with a single lightning bolt could just as well be a charging indicator as Thunderbolt 3 - and why the old style barrel charger...

I think you are really over-thinking this. Let's look at closeup of the press photo:

That's clearly the Thunderbolt 3 icon, which hasn't changed since the days of TB1/2:

And no, it is not the USC-C PD icon. That has a very distinct battery-like design:

So unless Acer decided to break all industry convention and invent its own charging icon (that happens look exactly like the 6-year old Thunderbolt icon :p)—that is a TB3 port in the photo. End of story.

(An auxiliary DC barrel charging port make sense if the USB-C port is occupied by a dongle or dock without power pass-through.)

"Acer claims the Switch 7 Black Edition’s battery life is up to 10 hours"

This is too good to be true. I won't complain even its just half of that.

Uhhhh...not to throw gas on this, but the port shown large above isn't a USB-C port - look at the configuration of the physical port itself. It may be a physical Thunderbolt port, but it doesn't have the shape of a USB-C port.

OK, am I just making this up? Or is my observation correct??

I am sure that this two pictures does not show same port, one that is on Acer device is definitely USB-C and icon next to it, is indicating TB connectivity.

Other picture is TB port (like on older gen of Apple MBP, or for example MSI GS43VR placed on the back side, so pure video output port...

Another interesting video (where he says "I hope it is Thunderbolt 3?"):

But this cagey German (Austria - who knows for sure) declares it support Thnunderbolt:
