I'm glad this is where the industry is going. You couldn't find anything like this just a few years ago, and now you can actually choose between this and ten other 15"+ devices.

Well the article wording says "up to an Nvidia GeForce 2080 GPU" so that makes me think a lower-end 2060 will be base, sadly.

Ok, so to commemorate the dawning of this glorious new age of workstation tablet PCs, I've compiled this screen size infographic, to help all you dreamers and maniacs decide, which machine is going to bankrupt you next? ;)

The boxes are drawn precisely to scale (line width part of screen size), listing the main contenders 12" and above:
    • Samsung Galaxy Book 12" @3:2 [2160x1440] 216.33 PPI (9.98" × 6.66" = 66.46in²)
    • VAIO Z Canvas 12.3" @3:2 [2560x1704] 250.02 PPI (10.24" × 6.82" = 69.78in²)
    • Apple iPad Pro 12.9" @4:3 [2732x2048] 264.68 PPI (10.32" × 7.74" = 79.87in²)
    • Acer Aspire Switch 7 13.5" @3:2 [2256x1504] 200.84 PPI (11.23" × 7.49" = 84.12in²)
    • HP ZBook x2 14" @16:9 [3840x2160] 314.7 PPI (12.2" × 6.86" = 83.75in²)
    • Samsung Notebook 9 Pen 15" @16:9 [1920x1080] 146.86 PPI (13.07" × 7.35" = 96.14in²)
    • Microsoft Surface Book 2 15" @3:2 [3240 x 2160] 259.6 PPI (12.48" × 8.32" = 103.85in²)
    • Wacom MobileStudio Pro 16 / HP ZBook Studio x360 15.6" @16:9 [3840x2160] 282.71 PPI (13.58" × 7.67" = 104.21in²)
    • Acer ConceptD 9 17.3" @16:9 [3840x2160] 254.67 PPI (15.08" × 8.48" = 127.89in²)
I put some older tablets on there for comparison purposes and for those holding out for a refresh (à la Galaxy Book Pro, Surface Book 3, MSP16 OLED, etc... :p)

So guys, which of these form-factors has got your name on it? Decisions, decisions...

If Microsoft will undo the stylus crippling of Fall Creators Update, or if it can be made to run Linux or Android, or if someone will license Mac OS X for it, I'm in.

I'm sure 3-4 months after being on the market it will go on sale for $4000 for the base model.

    Whoa.

I guess the Unicorns aren't to be found grazing along the discount aisle!

I'd like to see the pen get a real workout before I trust a third party device with Wacom inside, however. -Though, with that price tag, I wonder if they didn't pay for the good drivers which aren't perma-toggled into "slightly hamstrung" mode.
