Why is there no option for a 7200rpm drive (60 GB presumably) in the M4 while the smaller, more fragile Portege has one? Is Toshiba planning to add this option in the near future?

Good question. I'm not sure why they don't offer it, but it's easy to add yourself if you want. It's just a pain to install all the aoftware.

My company is starting to order M4s. I heard there will be a 7200RPM 100GB drive in July. Not sure how credible that is.

The 7200RPM 100GB drive exists now, just no one is using it but Dell and even then it's only in their gaming rig. I'm sure we'll see it go more mainstream once prices come down.
