But they said it's custom made specifically for the device. You can't even use the media pad 5 pro pen or it, neither will that pen work on the media pad.

It can be held in the hand, and it is larger than the Note 8. Working from my home office I go back to my Note 8. Where the Mate 20X shines for me is when I am on a consulting engagement and I'm taking extensive (several hours a day) notes in One Note. Just completed a three-day project, and the Mate 20X was excellent as both a note-taker and a phone.

That's great, the Note 8 fails miserably as a note-taking device because of those curved edges.

Any confirmation on the pen tech used here? This nib looks so much like that of the synaptics pen that came with my HP 608, I am very skeptical of it being AES.

Apparently even another Huawei pen (as from the Mate 20 Pro) will not work. Must be specifically for the Mate 20X.

After a bit a research, I have no clue what pen tech it uses...but I've got AES, EMR and N-trig pens in my possession and I'll be able to tinker with a Mate 20 X on Friday. We'll figure it out.

I thought i told you guys AES 2.0 boards are NOT compatible with AES 1.0 pens already. You need AES 2.0 pens.

So has anyone tried this out as a note taker yet?

See my posts earlier in this thread. Excellent note-taker. There is a case available that holds the pen, and the device and pen in the case still fit in a blazer/suit-coat inside pocket.
