    Hello all,

I've recently installed Win7 Pro x64 on my Toshiba M750 and have noticed something a little odd.

In System Information I have the following:

Installed memory (RAM): 4.00GB (3.80GB usable)

I expected to see the whole 4GB available, it being a 64bit OS and all.

I _think_ this is because of the integrated graphics card taking some memory to use but I need to investigate further, just wondered if anybody else has the same "problem"?

I'll be posting about what worked and what didn't driver wise, etc. in the next few days. Don't worry it's nearly all good news :)

Don't have an M750, but it probably is the video card.

I would have to agree, with my tx2500 and its Integrated graphics, I only have about 3.8 GB available as well.

What does the resource monitor show in the Memory tab?
Mine shows (win 7x64 (translated from german to english)):
    Available: 2409MB
    Cache: 1505MB
    Total: 4086MB
    Installed: 4096MB

    Thanks Frank!

I hadn't come across that particular place to view memory before, I've always just used the performance tab in task manager without clicking through to the full resource manager.

    Here's what mine looks like:

As you can see it has 201MB reserved for hardware which is probably the graphics as I suspected.

The breakdown diagram is very useful actually.

EDIT: Seems part of the reason I hadn't seen that breakdown diagram before is because it's new to Win7, the resource monitor looks very different on my old Vista laptop.
