    Hey everyone!

These seem to be scarce on the market, but are there any sata -> IDE conversion caddies that you could recommend that would allow me to put a second hard drive in my tx2500. I just put in the intel 40gb ssd and though it's rocket fast...40gb is a bit restrictive. I was hoping to replace the modular optical drive.

Any help/recommendations you could give me would be appreciated.

    Thank you for your time.

I know it can be done, but this will time and some googling to find where I first saw it.

if my memory serves me right you can get a dummy combo drive and adapter for a pata hdd so you can use it in you dvd drives bay.

I know this because I wanted to do the same thing this summer :D

It's been done. Search the forum. The poster who did it has a tutorial that's in PDF format along with part suppliers.

I'm also interested, but I'm concerned about heat since the dvd drive doesnt have vents

Been thinking about this myself recently. My first idea was to get a portable hdd (USB), rip it out the case, do some sanding, fit it into the dvd bay, and wire it to one of the usb ports internally. However, then you have the loss of a usb port.

Second idea was to try and find a way to wire it up to the port the dvd drive uses. I found the site http://newmodeus.com/shop/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=2_27 that sells caddys that go in the dvd bay, and let you slot a harddrive in, but I'm not sure if there's one that will work for the tx2XXX series (I have a tx2000). Was planning to try and work it out after I actually got some money together, but if theres someone else who's already done it, that's awesome

Searched around and couldn't find anything about it though :(
