Do you think these earlier models are selling so cheaply on Amazon because Asus dumped them? Realizing that the pre June models will fail at an incredible rate, Asus might have just dumped the whole lot remaining onto Amazon.com, figuring that they already had a solution when the units inevitably get RMA'd. Interesting business model!

^Maybe Asus found a way to weed out the duds...

On a somewhat related topic would someone here be willing to go out of his way to get on Asus support page and ask/check if their Amazon purchased M80T has a global/international warranty.

I ask because they insist on only giving an answer if the serial number of the device is provided and I'm not too keen on buying the tablet just to get burned.

    I would greatly appreciate it.

Very good strategy, only a certain % will be RMA's as the cheap price brings in bargain hunters who don't care for the stylus.

    • Some service and/or spare parts may not be available in all countries.
    • Localized spare parts (such as keyboard/ keymats) may be replaced with
the version available in the country where the repair is requested.
    • Some countries may have fees and restrictions that apply at the time of
    service.
    • Certain countries may require additional documentation, such as proof of
purchase or proof of proper importation, prior to performing International
    Warranty and Support.

Let us know if you need something else.

EDIT - just looked at the warranty card from the box and it says that "Asus does not perform warratny service outside of the country where you bought the notebook"

I've emailed them for you so will let you know which it is.

jb82: Thanks a lot for going out of your way. I've only gotten dodgy answers from Asus about the international warranty and they insist on only checking with the device's serial number.

It's the only thing holding me back given the known pen issues. I have no real interest in playing the Vivotab lottery knowing I would have to send it back to the US for repairs. Wouldn't be worth the hassle. So for me this info has deal breaking potential.

    Wow, great deal.

Just bought a Lenovo that is causing some pain. Can anyone please tell me if this works with an OTG cable AND allows charging at the same time as using the USB devices.

The Lenovo does, the Dell Venue does not, but would love to have one these ASUS pads instead, but charging while using is important as I am a developer and need to be constantly testing apps.

For those who bought at Staples, any idea about returns/exchanges to physical store since they don't sell this in-store? I wonder if you can drop off at store and wait for the exchange in the mail/store??

DUH! Slapping forehead, thanks, and after a 6 page read, the news is not good then.

As noted in an early post in that thread, the Miix and 5-bucks makes it happen. This is my second Miix and it too is giving trouble. I had high hopes for the ASUS.

Gotta rush off to Amazon and cancel the order. Ah well, the Fall is slated by Acer, Lenovo and ASUS for new tablet releases.

Seems like I have seen people bring stuff in that they bought off their website.
Call your local Staples and see if you can for certain.
