I'm leaning towards the OCZ 120 GB Vertex 2 Series SATA II 1.8-Inch Solid State Drive (SSD) OCZSSD1-2VTX120G.

Do I need anything else? connectors? Adapters? Or is it just plug and play? Also, will battery life improve or get worse with SSD? Thanks!

The connector/adapter is on the existing drive, just slide it off. Incremental gains in battery life at best, not like it'll double anything :)

OK thx for your reply. I opted for the Intel x-18 160 GB.

I can never go back to regular harddrives...
my operating system loads so fast...i'd say, about 30 seconds while the HDD probably takes about1 minute.

Loading programs are almost instantaneous. I'm glad I moved to SSD.

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong. The SSD leads to blazing speed differences. However, according to the Power Assistant, I think I'm seeing something like 0.3W difference ;)

So far I'm loving the X-18. HUGE performance increase! Also, battery is showing 12.5 hours, (with extended slice). With standard 5400RPM HD I was seeing ~ 8 hours.

I also noticed that the SSD seemed to give about 15-30minutes more battery life and a lot more if it was harddrive dependant work.

I too loe my SSD (wish it were bigger though...get a 160 minimum, or your gonna be sorry, imho)...with my setup, I'm able to get about 6 or so hours, with the slice and my i7. This is with my settings/screen set pretty high, BT on, and full inking going most of that period (been in lectures all week). I know some may complain, but I'm sure I could get a couple more hours if i cut my screen brightness way down, but I don't want too!...I like it way up:D so 6+ hours it is...

    thats why they have plug-ins!
