Default ink desktop in windows 7

I was simply curious if there was an updated version of ink desktop or some other work around available to use this program in windows 7. Currently the .msi file is unable to install and states it is only available for Vista with tablet services. This is on Win7 32 -bit final with tablet Services.

Have you tried the compatibility mode under file properties?
Not sure whether .msi got this mode or not, but worth trying I guess.

You can't change it. It has "compatible with previous versions of windows" though it's grayed out. Still makes no difference as it seems the installer specifically looks for Vista.

Are there other application similar in nature to ink desktop? ID was far from perfect and/or seamless even on Vista. Now I just have a reason to look for an alternative.

what do you want the product to do? have you tried using the sticky notes? or that is not the functionality you want?

Sticky-Notes is ok, but I'd prefer the relative unobtrusiveness of Ink Desktop. In other words I want to be able to simply view my desktop and write on it without having to go through any other interface. Oftentimes I am moving or simply opening my tablet to scribble some quick notes or reminders and don't want the extra one-two step of clicking on an icon or sizing a window.

I realize this may seem like a small thing, but the convenience of just having a quickly accessible writing surface that can be cleared just as easily is what I would like. If i were to use sticky notes, I'd just as soon use OneNote since it sits in my tray already.

no i get what you mean...i slightly suspect that the msi could be edited with orca, much in the same way that the touch pack was edited to run on other OS' outside of XP Tablet PC edition, might be something to look into.

This worked great on my tablet with 32-bit. Maybe when Office 10 64bit is available I'll try the other. Thanks so much!

This worked great for me as well. Thank you. I have the same problem trying to install Ink Crossword which is part of the MS Experience Pack. Can you work the same magic with this?
