    Default Tablet for music notation

    Hi all,

Did a search and the only thread I found about this was about a year old, so thought I'd ask...

Is there any way I can use my Wacom Bamboo tablet to ink music notation into Sibelius/Finale etc?

This would be fantastic if there was software out there that enabled me to draw in music notation freehand...

You can, but if you have gotten fluent with the keyboard already then that will be faster. You can draw the notes with the pen like you use the mouse. I am not familiar with any program that will recognize that you are writing different notes (whole/half etc), but it is nice to tap the notes into the staff instead of moving the mouse.

Yeah clicking them in with the pen is kinda redundant when you can use the keyboard or mouse to do just that. I was looking for something in the way of handwriting recognition for music notation --- like, draw a quarter-tone on the staff, and it recognises that you have drawn a quarter-tone on the line for B. Or whatever..... surely if a system can recognise the symbols used for handwriting, then it could also recognise the symbols for somehting else -- like a quarter-tone? ...... Anything out there?

This isn't anything as smart as what you (and I) would like, but I had some nice results recently for simple notation drawing my own staves, noteheads, and symbols in Adobe Illustrator and saving them as symbols, then I could pick the symbol I wanted and just "spray" it onto the page by tapping, and then use the pen to draw in the stems and other. I also use a Bamboo. But I sure wish there would be a handwriting recognition thing.
