Bah...did the educational discount go up in price? I recall it being $30 before.....isn't it cheaper to spend $50 to buy the new version rather than upgrade (is it $75?!)?

No joke, when I went to buy it I paid $70 or more - I had expected to spend $30. Its worth it though.

Yes, they increased it from $30 to $75.
    What $50 do you mean?

Both the academic license and the upgrade from version 6 to 7 costs $75.

Ouch, for that much more they better have addressed nearly everything I wanted, and definitely all the big issues.

OH!!...Price went up to $75...that's quite a bit more than the $30. I don't think it's worth $50 to upgrade with the features shown so far though.

Wow, glad I bought 6 at $30. Works great for me, I use it to handwrite all my class notes.

What do you see as the benefit of using PDF Revu over OneNote for handwriting your class notes?

I like the organization of ON including the search. How does PDF Revu work in these two areas?

    Organization:
My problem: I have books, scripts and practice sheets as a PDF file, flashcards, LaTeX files, Excel sheets, scanned sheets of paper, images and other stuff which I have to keep organized together with my own notes.
With OneNote you have your Notebook which contains all your notes and then you have the files, which must be somewhere else located. Or you can import some files to OneNote, which reduces the quality and is not always possible. Or you add hardcoded hyperlinks, which won't work any longer if you move the files. This fact adds a little chaos to the organization already.
Then the hirarchy: OneNote: Notebook - Section - Subsection - Page - Subpage - Tag. Whereas only the tags give you a good overview.
All this is nice, but complicated.
Much simpler is this with a PDF file. You have the folders with your files. In each folder is a PDF file which contains the corresponding notes. Maybe one PDF file for the notes I take in the lecture, one PDF file for the solutions of all the practice sheets, one file, for other stuff, ... In each PDF file I use the Bookmarks to keep an organization, whereas I create a bookmark for each headline and a bookmark for each new day. The bookmarks are in a treeview, so you can create as many subitems as you want, no limits.
And finally with PDF Revu 7 and the support for Portfolios this will, maybe, become even more easy.
For me, this is the more natural way and it's just my style of organization.
    To give you an idea:

    Search:
PDF Revu does not support the search of inked words. That's the only real drawback. The search for text is so much the better. It creates a list of all the places of finding. It also supports the search through a whole folder.

PS: On pdfinsider.com is a new podcast about Version 7 with the Bluebeam CEO. He does not say anything about the features, more about the history of Bluebeam and their aim.
At least he often says, that Version 7 will be such a great release because they've added tons of new features, features which the users requested. So I just hope they also had us tablet PC users in mind when they've added those features.

    That was just $30!
    That's really bad...
$50 more and even for students... and they will still lack some key functions that Adobe Acrobat has been offering for ages, e.g. OCR... Beyond $40 is already not such a student price for this PDF software - with ~$120 students can get a whole set of Adobe Creative Suite including Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc everything...

I hope they can lower the selling price amidst this economics downturn.

I am now tryin out AutoInk plugin for Acrobat It makes inking really Smooth in Acrobat (even smoother than Bluebeam 6), and it has an inking to text conversion feature too. Acrobat costs me only $ 30 here and I'm asking for an educational discount from them.
