Alternate Virtual Keyboard (OSK)
I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for an alternate virtual keyboard. I liked the keyboard for Windows 8 Consumer Preview, but I went back to Windows 7 and realize how much I hate the touchscreen keyboard.
Any recommendations would be helpful.

Re: Alternate Virtual Keyboard (OSK)
I'm having the worst time with the Windows 7 OSK... I only occasionally get the word suggestions across the top of the keyboard. All my settings are correct, but they only rarely show up- maybe 1 out of 20 times I type.
Even worse, I occasionally get an unresponsive keyboard. Sometimes I'll have to tap a certain key (especially the spacebar) multiple times in order for it to register the keystroke. It's maddening.
Anyone have any suggestions? I'd rather not spend another $30 to get a working osk...

Re: Alternate Virtual Keyboard (OSK)
EDIT:
NEVERMIND ALL OF THIS. SAMSUNG OFFICALLY ADDED SUPPORT FOR WINDOWS 8! UPDATE NAO.
Yeah, but the Windows 8 CP has a TON of disadvantages for 1 advantage.
- Right-clicking with touch is buggy as hell
- Easy Settings doesn't work AT ALL. Impossible to get rid of the light sensor now.
- Many programs(and drivers!) will fail to install due to unknown OS.
I really wish someone would port the windows 8 OSK to windows 7...
BTW: I have had experience with the Windows 8 OSK, I had Windows 8 running FLAWLESSLY on my Acer W500. Sadly it's WAY underpowered.Last edited by superbomb17; 05-02-2012 at 08:06 PM.

My Right Click issues were corrected with the Firmware Upgrade for the Touch Screen...
I don't miss Easy Settings, and you can disable the Ambient Light Sensor in the Advanced Power Settings under Display
Every Program I needed has installed, and as for drivers most Windows 7 drivers work, and the couple that don't have beta drivers released or soon to be...Jeff Roach - MCLC, MCT

Re: Alternate Virtual Keyboard (OSK)
[QUOTE=jnjroach;281095]John - A little help please...I had to return to Windows 7 for a software issue, and we are done with that project, so I went to reinstall Win 8 again and now iinstall fails EVERYTIME with a cryptic message of
"We are not sure what happened, but couldn't finish installing windows 8 Consumer Preview. We've set your PC back to the way it was right before you started."

Re: Alternate Virtual Keyboard (OSK)
I'm not John but I'll try

Are you installing through the Streaming Option or through booting from a USB Drive, Clean Install or Upgrade? I've seen issues with the streaming method on the Slate. I used a Lexar 4 GB USB Thumb Drive and booted to it, I deleted all of the partitions and formatted and allowed Windows to configure and install. On my HP Slate, I had to go into Diskpart and create the disks...Jeff Roach - MCLC, MCT

Re: Alternate Virtual Keyboard (OSK)
Jeff - THANKS - USB, starting setup from the Sources subdirectory, worked like clockwork to do an upgrade install from Win 7 to Win 8. I know it is usually better to do a clean install, but reading around the net I saw many (if not most) users were as successful with an upgrade install as were clean installers.
