Re: ArtDock for the Samsung Series 7 Slate
Man, I wish the Maya one worked for 3DS Max! Unfortunately, even though they both do 3D modeling and are by the same company, the darn shortcuts are different! And we use 3DS at my school

If you ever feel like integrating it, I think the main buttons that would be useful would be Save(Ctrl+S), See Thru (Alt+X), Move(W), Rotate(E), Scale(W), Ctrl, Alt, Vertex(1), Edge(2), Select Edge Loop (Alt+L), Polygon(4), Extrude (Shift+E) Target Weld (Shift+Ctrl+W), and Cut (Alt+C)
Probably some useful animation keys too but we haven't gotten far into animation with it yet so I don't know the hotkeys.
I'm really loving this app! I did find a way to set my windows to a custom size using a free app called Sizer (Sizer Software by Brian Apps) so my windows don't overlap the dock. I find that the 7S7's ultra wide screen allows enough room to give it its own space. (Also helps when you dock the Win Taskbar to the right or left to save vertical space!)

Re: ArtDock for the Samsung Series 7 Slate
Thought I would share a bit of code I added to the ahk.
Those numbers are specifically for my right-docking taskbar... but you could easily change it so it's 1270,730 if you have your taskbar on the bottom like normal.Code:;Resize Window to leave space for ArtDock when pressing Win+Alt+E #!e::WinMove,A,,100,0,1205,770
Then I just remapped the Explorer button in the Generic Dock to be Win+Alt+E to trigger the resize.
Now I don't have to run a separate app just to resize my windows. It's less of a pain this way too
Took me a few hours but it will save me a lot of trouble interrupting my workflow in the future.

Re: ArtDock for the Samsung Series 7 Slate
I have just upgraded to windows 8 cp and and everything runs fine. The pressure sensitivity, auto rotation and touch and hold is working. The thing is that when I install the art dock things change. The art dock doesn't register touch and after I restart the tablet touch is gone all together and I have to use system restore. Does anyone know a fix for this, or a good alternative program that doesn't use hotkey?
Any help would be great. I love the art dock!Last edited by adamball; 03-28-2012 at 06:00 AM.

Re: ArtDock for the Samsung Series 7 Slate
First of all I cant thank you enough Konartist3D for this amazing script, its the only way of
being truly productive with a tablet and it makes you wake up with a smile each morning
Then for some questions:
1. Is it possible to make a button work like on a real keyboard so when pressing down a key
it will repeat the keystroke multiple times until released? i.e. if you hold down an ArtDock button
assigned to the letter "t" the result if I press and hold for two seconds would be : "ttttttttttttttttt"
but if I only press it once it would be: "t"
2. Is it easy to modify ArtDock to work on other computers or screens for example my old HP TX2
or what Im even more curios about is if ArtDock is future proof will it work on all the next gen
Win8 slates when they arrive?
Just to show you how much this gem is worth I'll post a picture of my previous setup that
unfortunately broke a couple of months ago I thought I had to go through the trouble of
building a new one for the samsung slate but you saved me so much trouble.

Re: ArtDock for the Samsung Series 7 Slate
um, artdock suddenly stopped working for me.
i think its because i was following the instructions for the win 8 install, instructions from the samsung site. they offër a firmware upgarde for the tpuch screen, and i think it causes this script to not work any more.

Re: ArtDock for the Samsung Series 7 Slate
I don't have a Series 7 Tablet, so can't try this myself. Could someone please answer a question?
When you use ArtDock, does it disable finger touch for the rest of the screen? Like is the rest of the screen "pen only" or something?

Re: ArtDock for the Samsung Series 7 Slate
@aquastealth That frankenstein keyboard is awesome!
@dr bunsen Yeah, that's an important part of it for me. If you disable touch on the tablet, the buttons are still touch enabled. Most importantly, you can use them and the pen simultaneously just like a keyboard. Very responsive, too.Last edited by jamesT; 04-02-2012 at 08:47 AM.

Silo?
I'm new to the concept of a slate and no computer wiz, but I am interested in using the Samsung Series 7 Slate with modo, ZBrush and Silo using the Wacom stylus. I realize I will be limited to some basic box modeling and no sculpting probably in modo and Silo but that I will be able to do a fair bit with ZBrush.
My question is, since Artdock is specifically written for apps I see in the screenshot, does this mean that Artdock won't be of use for Silo... or, is Artdock adaptable? Silo would probably be the main one I use with this slate PC (box modeling). Silo makes a lot of use of CTRL//ALT/left and right mouse button combinations for rotating, moving, scaling and scroll for soft selection radius for example. I'd use menu selections with the stylus for most other operations.
Glad I found this forum. It's a good'un.

Re: ArtDock for the Samsung Series 7 Slate
I've been using art dock for poly modelling in maya. It's slower than a typical setup but it's workable and lets me be productive on the train. The great part about art dock is that the scripts are extremely easy to read and therefor really customisable. I've already reorganised the maya dock to a layout more preferable to how I use the slate and changed the links on a few buttons. It also looks like it will be extremely easy to remove items from the main menu and replace them with menus I create for other software.
