Re: MSI Windpad 110w
Sorry if this has been asked already, but does anybody know where you can buy the docking station for the MSI Windpad 110w (in the US preferably)? Honestly, I'm tempted to go with the $100-cheaper W500 just because it comes with a keyboard dock.

Re: MSI Windpad 110w
I e-mailed MSI and they said it would be available in about 7-10 days at $70 - $80.
I've been playing with my WindPad quite a bit more and I really like it. However, the stopping and starting of the fan is driving me a little nuts. I didn't realize how much I value silent computing, I guess.
I know someone brought it up before, but are there any other options to make the fan run at low all the time? A utility or something?

Re: MSI Windpad 110w
Any information about the spare Mini-PCI port? Does the american model (with AMD Z01 and 4GB) comes with this connector available? Could it be used with a 3G Modem perhaps?

Re: MSI Windpad 110w
Any word on a Good useable folio type cover for this tablet or a fold able cover. I called MSI a week ago and was sent to voicemail to a person in charge of product development, NEVER GOT A RETURN CALL.

Re: MSI Windpad 110w
The battery life for W500 at normal use is around 5 hours without tweaking. The 110W is similar to that.
The fan noise doesn’t particularly bother me at all since it is barely audible compared to that of my 17-inch HP laptop. However, I can feel the warm air coming out of the vent from time to time.
Hope this helps!Last edited by jcasey; 09-26-2011 at 06:16 PM.

Re: MSI Windpad 110w
Just got my Windpad 110W this weekend.
I couldn't wait for the Australian 4GB + 3G version so I got the 2GB RAM and no 3G one.
I have already ordered a 4GB stick of Ram, Intel 80GB mSata SSD and a Transcend 64GB SDXC card
So far it is great. I have just been setting it up really but I find the touch screen very usable and haven't really needed the stylus I purchased at the same time.
I put on the latest BIOS version which is 106, haven't noticed any real difference.
The fan isn't worrying me but I was reading a PDF in bed last night and the fan would come on now and then, that was annoying my wife which in turn annoyed me
On wide screen monitors I always put the task bar down the right hand side of the screen. This works fantastically on the Windpad as now the start button is right next to the little mouse on the right side and the other touch buttons are close.
I tried to play a game (Planescape Torment DnD) last night but was hampered by lack of keyboard. I couldn't get the on screen keyboard to stay on top of the game. Mouse only games would be fine though.
So far speed is acceptable for what I have been doing.
No comment really on battery life yet.
Size and weight wise it is great for using anywhere I want (couch/bed/train).
When I get the RAM and SSD I'll pop the back and see if I have the free PCIe slot in the Australian version. I am very keen to to put a 3G card in here.
What other devices could this slot take?
I am also on the look out for a dock and case. Hopefully these show up soon.
I am very happy with my purchase so far
Edit: does any one have suggestions for the power supply?
It is too short and I need a few of them before the docks come out - one for work, beside the bed etc.
I have gone through my box of power sources and found a few 12v ones with enough amps but not the right connector.Last edited by pox67; 09-26-2011 at 09:11 PM. Reason: Added power supply question

Re: MSI Windpad 110w
Hi pox67, I also just got my Australian Windpad 110W. How do you update your bios? floppy disk? I followed the instructions for windows 7 but it doesn't work for 64 bit windows 7.

Re: MSI Windpad 110w
I updated from here:
MSI Global ? Notebook - WindPad 110W
and followed the instructions here:
http://www.msi.com/html/pdf/How_to_m...ash_BIOS_f.pdf
You'll need:
usb memory stick
usb hub
usb keyboard
It went pretty easily. I also updated something under the firmware that was meant to make the screen brighter but I haven't noticed any difference yet.

Re: MSI Windpad 110w
I opened mine up tonight and put in the 4GB ram and Intel SSD.
It wasn't too painful and much easier than most laptops. I have Win7 Ultimate installing now and a 20gb partition left over for Windows 8 installs.
Mine looked like the above pictured model. From what I can see just about everything is modular and replaceable from the battery to the cameras
edit: forgot to mention that my sim card slot is soldered in to the motherboard so it has the potential to be enabled!Last edited by pox67; 09-28-2011 at 05:50 AM. Reason: sim slot update
