Re: MSI Windpad 110w
I used an external cd-rom, so I didn't run into those same issues.
Sounds like you're on the right path, though!
Update: Got my MSI Dock today. Looks really nice and well built, of course it should be for the price. I'll have to wait to try it out through, my WindPad is at work. Let me warn you not to buy the $10 slip case... it is really not even worth that much. (Not a huge surprise, but just wanted to let others know.)
Oh yeah, the packaging from MSI was horrible! It was a motherboard box folded inside out with a little piece of foam with the other stuff floating loose. Thankfully the dock itself was in another box.Last edited by benleclair; 10-21-2011 at 03:25 PM.

Re: MSI Windpad 110w
looks like this isn't true for all regions. In Australia my plug was a different size. I would estimate 1x2mm, it is much smaller at any rate.
I picked up multi charger for about $30 from an electronics store. It has a 1.5 meter cable and also charges USB which will come in handy.
I did that in the end but it didn't make any difference, this way is much easier for others wanting to try it:
Microsoft Store Online
The problem was the USB card reader didn't have drivers in Windows 8, once I used a normal USB memory stick it was all good.
New problem though: Windows 8 initially worked but not it won't load. It just sits on the start screen with the little dots going around in a circle. As it worked initially and I could dual boot I think it is something I have installed since...I suspect Antivirus software so will start there...

Re: MSI Windpad 110w
Interesting.
I have installed the Broadcom drivers from the MSI website but I don't see the device under Locations and Sensors from the Control Panel. All I have under there is Light Sensor.
I am beginning to suspect that my Windpad doesn't have GPS!
Any one else with an Australian Windad that can conform if they have the GPS unit or not? Thanks.

Re: MSI Windpad 110w
I cannot find the location and other sensore on windows 8 control panel. They only have location settings in the control panel.
If I go to device manager and click on sensor. It has light sensor and windows location provider.

Re: MSI Windpad 110w
This is how mine looks.
Google maps might be using IP address for localization.... because on my stationary comp without GPS it shows location too.
l will use the link to try to yet it to work. Will post result.
Edit: l tried Google maps with GPS from the other website (mentioned above) and still no GPS reception. . .Last edited by jack909; 10-25-2011 at 03:31 PM.
