Default Hands On - Motion LE1700 Tablet PC

TabletPCReview's very own Brian Beeler got a chance to check out Motion's newest slate Tablet PC to join their line-up at CTIA this week. The LE1700 Tablet was just announced on Monday, March 26th and is already making a splash due to its spec sheet. This little Tablet will be the first slate Tablet to have a Core 2 Duo processor and you can choose between Windows XP Tablet PC Edition or Vista Business as the OS.

Besides being the first slate Tablet to offer a Core 2 Duo processor, the LE1700 has many other great features. It has a 12.1" SXGA+ display with WriteTouch technology, which is optional and it only weighs in at 3.3lbs. The Tablet's size make it perfect for traveling professionals or college students who need it for note-taking.

The battery life also makes the LE1700 great for traveling because the standard battery lasts about three hours, but when you attach the extended battery, their combined battery life is about seven hours. It has a 1.8" hard drive with 30GB or 60GB capacities and it offers integrated Novatel Wireless ES720, WWAN, 802.11a/b/g and Bluetooth. The LE1700 can withstand little bumps and bruises too, which is good news for the abusive users. Overall, users should be pleased with the array of options Motion has added.

The Core 2 Duo version starts at $2,199 while the 1.2GHz Core Solo version starts at $1,999. I am sure most users will go for the Core 2 Duo version, at least if they are looking for performance. The View Anywhere and WriteTouch technology are a $299 upgrade, but well worth it if you use your Tablet outside or you need an active digitizer and touchscreen display. Orders are being excepted now and first shipments start going out March 30th.
